Never Going Back Again

Forgive me for getting melancholic.  Next week my ex – my partner for 13 years — will be coming back to San Francisco to pack up the last of his belongings.  And as I sit here and think about seeing him again, one song has been stuck in my head, repeating itself over and over again.

Never Going Back Again – Fleetwood Mac    (click to listen)

She broke down and let me in.  Made me see where I’ve been.
Been down one time.  Been down two times.  I’m never going back again.

You don’t know what it means to win. Come down and see me again.
Been down one time.  Been down two times.  I’m never going back again.

I’m sorry, Bob. What meligrosa quoted rings so true.

Thanks, Meligrosa and Makfan. I think I’ll carry that quote in my head along with the song — it’s perfect. I’m back on my feet now and the past is both sweet and bittersweet.

    Oh, man…
I wish I had some wise and comforting words to share, too… but, wow… that just sucks…
I’m very, very sorry to hear that, Bob…

Thanks, Sig. It’s been a tough 5 days because, as Jim put it, this is a time of lasts. He moved to Massachusetts… and the chances we see each other again in this lifetime are very slim. I’m having trouble with the finality.
